The main objective for the redesign is to increase the visibility of Keele Computer Science Research and promote awareness and engagement across campus and beyond.
The Computer Science webpage has been redesigned using qualitative data to identify underlying issues and potential opportunities. This process integrates user analysis to ensure the revamped version is user-friendly. This analysis minimises assumptions and biases, enabling stakeholders to effectively meet their business objectives by assessing their needs. The focus is on prioritising the tasks and goals of end users to inform design and development decisions. The User Analysis artifacts include:
User Personas
Content Inventory
User Task Analysis
Card Sorting
After a thorough examination of the existing content inventory, certain elements or items were deemed the most important to be sorted, and some pre-existing content was removed. However, there is a need for Card Sorting.
The taxonomy design is validated using Card sorting, a technique used to determine how people organise information to make it easier to find in a system. In this process, end users are given a set of cards, each labelled with a piece of content or functionality, and asked to group them in a way that makes sense to them.
